Karl Katoch has to abort the second heat of the GENERALI Iron Road Prologue due to insufficient sight!

After 200 riders started today’s second heat of the Prologue, the race had to be interrupted and then finally aborted because of the insufficient sight upon the racetrack. Nearly half of the mountain was covered with heavy fog since the early morning hours, in particular the high-speed sections in the last third of the 14 kilometers long gravel racetrack to the Erzberg’s peak.

Top-speeds of up to 165 km/h and a sight range of less than 25 meters definitely don’t match with the Erzbergrodeo’s highly developed safety concept for all riders. To wait for better sight circumstances had to be excluded as well at 12:00 a.m. by the race director, as there was no possibility left to secure a fair and safe race for the 1600 riders still waiting to start their prologue. To abort today’s race was therefore the only logical alternative.

Shortly after the abortion, Erzbergrodeo mastermind Karl Katoch immediately took good care of the mood of his guests ? and announced an afternoon happy hour for drinks at the festival tent, which filled itself within a few minutes. The afternoon will present further entertaining side-events inside the Erzbergrodeo-Arena such as the GENERALI Interview Lounge, the ONE-ON-ONE rider presentation and the spectacular Freestyle-MX show.
